Who we are

We are the developers of Plastic SCM, a full version control stack (not a Git variant). We work on the strongest branching and merging you can find, and a core that doesn't cringe with huge binaries and repos. We also develop the GUIs, mergetools and everything needed to give you the full version control stack.

If you want to give it a try, download it from here.

We also code SemanticMerge, and the gmaster Git client.

SemanticMerge goes Visual

Edit:Thanks to Scott Hanselman and Jon Skeet for sharing the launch on Twitter.

Here we are, releasing again! Doing our best to follow the rule of “release early, release often”.

Today we’re publishing our latest feature in SemanticMerge: the “Visual Merge”. And since picture is worth a thousand words… here you are:

Pablo Santos
I'm the CTO and Founder at Códice.
I've been leading Plastic SCM since 2005. My passion is helping teams work better through version control.
I had the opportunity to see teams from many different industries at work while I helped them improving their version control practices.
I really enjoy teaching (I've been a University professor for 6+ years) and sharing my experience in talks and articles.
And I love simple code. You can reach me at @psluaces.

C# development in MacOS with MonoMac - getting started

Thursday, July 11, 2013 Violeta Sánchez Martín , 0 Comments

During the last month I've been involved in the development of SemanticMerge for Linux.

Since we're basically a Mono shop we decided to go for GTK# and it was really a great experience. I mean, probably GTK GUIs are not the greatest ones but from the developer point of view it is extremely easy to get used to the fundamentals and start solving problems.

I read the ZetCode gtk-sharp tutorial which is really, really easy to understand and includes almost all the information you need to go with GTK.

There is also a good text about GTK titled Foundations of GTK development where you can basically find anything that wasn't covered by the tutorial. And, anyway, it is really easy to map from the pure GTK concepts to gtksharp.

Violeta Sánchez Martín
I have been in charge of most of the SemanticMerge evolution and also the native Plastic SCM GUIs for mac OS and Linux.
But you can find me working on a wide range of areas: from merge technology to the server, from GUI to network programming.
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends and outdoor activities (and shopping!).

The anatomy of distributed development - a full catalog of do's and don'ts

Tuesday, July 09, 2013 Pablo Santos 0 Comments

As version control developers we meet teams transitioning to different development patterns on a daily basis.

In the enterprise world many are scared to jump into distributed development since they think it will mean a total loss of control. They also tend to think "distributed doesn't fit here".

Others think they're already distributed because they use some sort of connection to a central server :-P

We posted about DVCS myths before but this time we're going to share a full list of typical cases trying to figure out how different types of teams look like... while having some fun.

We will be covering all these topics on our upcoming webinar on July 10th

We'll also check which "myths" are real or ... busted! :D
